Westbrook Community Celebrates Diwali
10 November 2023
Over 2,000 Westbrook residents and friends came together on Friday, 3 November at the estate’s Central Park to celebrate Diwali – the Hindu festival of lights.
Celebrated annually by millions of people, the holiday marks the victory of light, good, and knowledge over darkness, evil, and ignorance.
To observe this important event, attendees mingled and joined in plenty of fun activities including sand art and belly dancing and partied to the sounds of our in-house DJ.
Kids and adults were kept entertained by an extra bendy contortionist, an extremely popular ‘Spin to Win’ wheel, and a bubble man who blew giant bubbles for the crowd.
Returning favourites were also on hand to celebrate, including Eesha the elephant, Indian dhol drummers, and Bollywood dancers.
Three food trucks kept bellies full throughout the evening by serving plenty of crowd favourites including delicious Indian desserts and hot drinks. The Wyndham Rotary also lent a hand with their classic BBQ, which was sold out before the end of the night.
To cap off the evening, residents were awed by a spectacular Pyrotechnic show – the perfect ending to a great night.
