An estimated 1,500 local residents and friends came together to celebrate Australia Day at the Manor Lakes estate in Wyndham Vale on Saturday, 26 January.
Held at Hindmarsh Drive Reserve, the free community event was jointly organised by estate project manager the Dennis Family Corporation and the Manor Lakes Residents’ Association.
“The response to our Family Day event on Australia Day was quite amazing,” said Manor Lakes Marketing Executive, Irene Najdecki.
“It was wonderful to see so many local families enjoying the afternoon of festivities with their neighbours on our national day celebration and we were fortunate to enjoy fine weather throughout.”
Notable guests were headed by the Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Heather Marcus (pictured centre) and her fellow Iramoo Ward Councillors Peter Gibbons (left) and Peter Maynard (right).
“We were delighted that the Mayor and Councillors Gibbons and Maynard demonstrated their support by personally attending the event,” Ms Najdecki added.
Activities staged on the day included a sausage sizzle, rides, balloon artist and clown. Another popular attraction was an Aussie rules footy clinic conducted by the newly established Manor Lakes Football Club.
The event was even more memorable for three lucky attendees who each won an iPad mini in a special prize draw giveaway.
Manor Lakes Residents’ Association Secretary/Treasurer Lesley Watson said the fun-filled day offered something for people of all ages.
“The great success of this year’s Australia Day celebration is something we hope to build upon to ensure the event becomes an annual highlight for not only Manor Lakes residents, but also for the wider Wyndham community.”
